Aregbesola Advocates for Cuban Solidarity Amid U.S. Sanctions

Rauf Aregbesola, former Minister of Interior and a member of the Nigeria Movement Solidarity Cuba (NMSC), raised concerns about the dire situation faced by sick children and the elderly in Cuba due to U.S. sanctions that block fuel and energy supplies. Speaking at a conference in Abuja, themed "Cuba: A Country's Right to Live," Aregbesola urged African nations to show solidarity with Cuba, emphasizing that the U.S. blockade undermines the welfare of the Cuban people.

He criticized the ongoing economic sanctions and called for an end to U.S. interference in Cuba's internal affairs. Aregbesola was supported by Engr.

Festus Osifo from the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Jame Imoyera from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), who condemned the unjust inclusion of Cuba on the U.S. state sponsor of terrorism list. The Cuban ambassador, Miriam Moral Palmero, also appealed for broader support for Cuba, highlighting the need for international solidarity and cooperation.
