Oshiomhole Advocates Fund Tracking for State Police Success

During the Arise News Townhall held in Abuja, Adam Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State and current senator representing Edo North, stressed the necessity of tracking funds allocated to police operations to ensure the success of proposed state police. He advised against the deplorable conditions of police stations and barracks across Nigeria, urging a fact-check on the allocation of funds to the Nigerian Police Force over the past 20 years.

Oshiomhole argued that merely increasing funding would not resolve security challenges unless the funds are deployed effectively. He commended President Bola Tinubu for taking bold steps to address the issue of state police, noting that the discussion around state police has been ongoing for several years.

Oshiomhole remarked that once Tinubu became president, he should relinquish control over police operations to empower state authorities.
