Arewa Youth Assembly Urges FG to Equip Security Agencies

On Thursday, the Arewa Youth Assembly called on the Nigerian federal government to strengthen the country's security architecture by equipping security agencies with modern weapons, drones, and intelligence systems. Spokesperson Mohan Danlami highlighted the increasing tendency to politicize security challenges, especially during election cycles, warning that such actions could undermine national unity and counterinsurgency efforts.

The assembly urged President Bola Tinubu to ensure that security agencies receive the necessary tools and logistics to effectively combat banditry and terrorism. They commended recent improvements in military operations and the leadership of key military figures, including Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, General Olufemi Oluyede, and General Waidi Shaibu.

The assembly reiterated the need for a collective national effort to address insecurity beyond political, ethnic, and religious lines, emphasizing that citizens have the right to demand protection and that divisive rhetoric could embolden criminal elements.
