Nigerian Army Arrests 46 Irregular Immigrants in Ogun

On June 11, 2026, the Nigerian Army's 35 Artillery Brigade, led by spokesperson Samuel Akari, commenced a security operation in Ogun State, resulting in the arrest of 46 irregular immigrants. The operation targeted various locations within the communities of Ijebu Imushin and Ijebu Iles.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the individuals had allegedly resided in the state for approximately six months without valid immigration documents. During interrogation, the suspects claimed to be merchant workers affiliated with QNet, an online marketing platform involved in the sale of various commodities.

The arrested individuals included 36 males and 10 females, with nationalities spanning 18 from Burkina Faso, 23 from Côte d'Ivoire, four from Togo, and one from Senegal. The Nigerian Army has handed the suspects over to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Ogun State Command for further investigation and appropriate administrative action in accordance with existing laws.
