Nigerian Army Arrests Suspected Bandits in Kaduna, Abia

The Nigerian Army conducted operations in Kaduna and Abia states, resulting in the arrest of two suspected bandits and the recovery of firearms. On May 8, 2026, troops from the 2 Battalion, deployed at the forward operating base in Dogon Dawa, intercepted 32-year-old Ibrahim Adamu at a roadblock in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

During the search, troops recovered an AK-47, three mobile phones, and Indian hemp. Preliminary investigations revealed incriminating photographs on Adamu's phone, showing him in military camouflage alongside armed bandits.

In a separate operation on May 9, 2026, troops from the 14 Brigade responded to a distress call regarding illegal firearms in Umuorieh village, Umuahia North Local Government Area, Abia State. They arrested 22-year-old Ifeanyi Ezebuiro and recovered a foreign-made Ruger pistol, which he claimed belonged to his late father.

Both suspects remain in military custody pending further investigation.
