Nigerian Army Arrests Suspected Gun Runner in Cross River State, Recovers 245 Cartridges

The Nigerian Army's 13 Brigade Headquarters announced the arrest of a suspected gun runner, Ojo Friday, in Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State. The operation led to the recovery of 245 pump-action cartridges.

Friday, a resident of Abomeg in Ebonyi State and an indigene of Ochon Community in Obubra Local Government Area, was allegedly involved in the illicit distribution of the recovered cartridges. Major Yemi Sokoya, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect and recovered items are in custody for ongoing investigations.

Brigadier General Peter Olusegun Alimikhena emphasized the Army's commitment to intelligence-driven security operations to disrupt illicit arms supplies and maintain peace and stability in the region. The Nigerian Army will continue collaborating with security agencies and local communities to combat arms trafficking and ensure a secure environment for socio-economic activities in Cross River State.
