Nigerian Army Seeks Dismissal of Abuja Property Lawsuit

The Nigerian Army has filed a motion in court seeking to dismiss a lawsuit regarding a disputed property located in the Apo District of Abuja. The suit was initiated by Professor John Ntui Ntuiaban, who is seeking judicial interpretation of citizens' rights to property ownership in Nigeria, among other requests.

The Army's legal representative, Victor Giwa, argues that the suit is grossly incompetent and challenges the jurisdiction of the court to hear the case. Giwa contends that the claims made by the plaintiff are speculative and academically oriented, lacking a basis for judicial decision.

The preliminary objection is scheduled for a hearing on March 24, 2026. The defendants in the suit include the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the Chief Naval Staff, among others.
