Army Chief Assesses Security in Jos, Plateau State

On Thursday, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, led a delegation of security chiefs to Jos, Plateau State, to assess the security situation in response to ongoing concerns. This visit is part of the Nigerian Army's efforts to restore calm and ensure lasting peace in the region.

Upon arrival, the Army Chief met with the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, highlighting the importance of civil-military cooperation in addressing emerging security challenges. During the visit, Chief of Army Staff received operational briefings from Major General Folusho Oyinlola, the General Officer Commanding the 3 Division, who outlined proactive strategies being implemented in collaboration with other security agencies to contain threats and protect lives and properties.

Lieutenant General Shaibu also engaged with community leaders, assuring them of the Nigerian Army's commitment to safeguarding law-abiding citizens and urging residents to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of security operations. Dachung Bago, Chairman of the Jos North Local Government Area, commended the Army Chief's visit, noting its potential to boost public confidence and strengthen trust in ongoing security efforts.
