COAS Deploys 850 Troops to Plateau Amid Insecurity Surge

In response to escalating insecurity in Plateau State, particularly following recent attacks on innocent citizens in the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos North, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has approved the immediate deployment of 850 additional troops. This decision aims to reinforce ongoing operations and de-escalate tensions in the affected areas.

The deployment was confirmed by Captain Chinonso Oteh of the Joint Task Force in a statement released on Thursday. The new personnel will support efforts to restore law and order and ensure the safety and security of residents.

Lieutenant General Shaibu emphasized the importance of professionalism and discipline among the troops, instructing them to firmly address criminal elements threatening peace and security. He assured that adequate logistics would be provided to enable effective execution of their mission.

This military action follows a similar order by Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu for the deployment of police tactical teams to Plateau State.
