Nigerian Army Intensifies Operations Against Kidnappers in Taraba State

The Nigerian Army's 6 Brigade, Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, has escalated operations against kidnappers in Taraba State following the abduction of two passengers in Wukari. The Brigade received a distress alert on January 29, 2026, reporting gunshots near a police checkpoint on Kasuwan Shanu Jootar Road.

Responding swiftly, soldiers found a Lagos-registered vehicle conveying nine passengers, with the driver, Abdul Amukama, sustaining a gunshot wound. Preliminary investigations revealed that two passengers were forcibly abducted.

The Army launched a search and rescue operation, securing the release of one victim and intensifying efforts to locate the other. Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa commended the troops for their prompt response and professionalism, urging road users to cooperate with security agencies and provide credible information to support ongoing operations.
