Troops Eliminate Terrorists, Seize Weapons in Zamfara

On May 4, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force North West, led by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, intensified operations against terrorist groups in Zamfara State. The operations targeted known terrorist hideouts in several communities, including Maikwanuga Village and Tungar Magaji Village.

During a fierce gun battle, troops engaged terrorists, neutralizing two and forcing others to flee. The soldiers recovered an AK-47 rifle with 30 rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle.

The military spokesperson stated that these operations are part of a sustained campaign to destroy terrorist camps within the Bagega Sunk Forest Corridor and restore peace to the affected communities. Lieutenant Colonel Danja reaffirmed the commitment to continue aggressive operations across the northwest until all criminal elements are eliminated, urging residents to support security agencies with credible information.
