Nigerian Army Recovers Remains of Slain Soldiers in Imo

The Nigerian Army announced the recovery of the remains of two slain soldiers, Master Warrant Officer Linu Musa Audu and Private Gloria Mathew, who were abducted and murdered by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in May 2022. The operation took place on April 24, 2026, in the Ubaha-Orsu axis of Orsu Local Government Area, as part of a deliberate clearance mission aimed at dismantling IPOB and ESN hideouts in the region.

During the operation, troops encountered heavy resistance but successfully repelled multiple ambushes. The soldiers' remains were discovered in a shallow grave, which was carefully excavated for forensic analysis, including DNA testing, to confirm their identities.

The Nigerian Army emphasized its commitment to ensuring justice for fallen heroes and urged citizens to remain vigilant and support security agencies in restoring peace in the region.
