Gunmen Ambush Troops in Imo, One Soldier Killed

On Monday, at approximately 12:53 PM, gunmen ambushed troops from the 34 Artillery Brigade in the Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State. The soldiers were on a mission to assess a burnt vehicle along the SPDC Etekuru road when they came under heavy gunfire from suspected terrorists who had laid in wait.

During the exchange of fire, one soldier was killed, and another sustained injuries. The attackers fled the scene, taking with them two AK-47 rifles.

Following the ambush, military reinforcements were deployed to the area, and a search operation was launched, leading to the discovery of two burnt vehicles and the evacuation of two corpses to a hospital morgue. Security forces are conducting further investigations to track down the assailants.
