Nigerian Army Rescues 19 Kidnap Victims in Abuja

On a Saturday, the Nigerian Army successfully rescued 19 kidnap victims in Abuja's Gidan Dogo area, following credible intelligence regarding the whereabouts of terrorists responsible for recent abductions in the Byazhin area. The operation was conducted by troops from the 7 Guard Battalion, in conjunction with the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilantes.

During the search and rescue operation, the troops made contact with the bandits, leading to a firefight in which one criminal was neutralized, while others fled the scene, with one suspect reportedly sustaining a gunshot wound. Further searches in the area resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and a locally fabricated firearm.

Brigadier General Adebisi Onasanya commended the troops for their bravery and professionalism during the operation, reiterating the Army's commitment to safeguarding residents of the Federal Capital Territory and intensifying operations to rid the area of criminal activities.
