Nigerian Army Seeks TETFund Support for Drone Experts

On Tuesday, during a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Arc. Sonni Echono, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.

Gen. Waidi Shaibu, appealed for support to build Nigeria's capacity in drone warfare expertise.

Shaibu praised TETFund for its contributions to the Nigerian Army School of Engineering in Makurdi and described the visit as significant for fostering institutional collaboration to bridge critical gaps in military technology. He disclosed that the Nigerian Army is intensifying efforts in drone warfare armament development but faces constraints due to inadequate skilled manpower.

The Army seeks to sponsor children to become pioneers in this area. Shaibu emphasized the need for greater investment in intellectual capacity and technical training to enhance Nigeria's ability to develop indigenous military technology and defense systems.

Echono reaffirmed TETFund's commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Army and highlighted the military's evolving role in technological innovation and educational development.
