Ekiti Government Launches Operation Against Church Attackers

Following a violent attack on Christ Apostolic Church in Eda Oniyo, Ekiti State, where gunmen killed a pastor and abducted 15 worshippers during a vigil service on Tuesday evening, the Ekiti State Government has ordered a comprehensive surveillance operation. Taiwo Olatunbosun, the state commissioner for information, announced the immediate deployment of the 148 Battalion of the Nigerian Army alongside its command officers to monitor the area and track down the perpetrators.

The Inspector General of Police for Zone 17, Ajani Omolabi, visited the site to oversee ongoing operations, which involve joint efforts from police, military, and local vigilante groups. The state government, led by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, condemned the attack as heinous and unacceptable, assuring residents of their commitment to ensuring safety and security.

A high-powered security delegation, including Brig Gen Ebenez Ogundana (rtd), has been deployed to assess and coordinate the response efforts in the community.
