Gunmen Attack Ekiti Church, Kill Pastor, Abduct Worshippers

On Tuesday evening, gunmen attacked a church in Eda Oniyo, located in the Ilejemeje Local Government Area of Ekiti State, during an open-air crusade. The assailants, heavily armed, stormed the church while services were ongoing, resulting in the death of the pastor and the abduction of several worshippers, including elderly people and children.

The attack reportedly lasted several minutes, during which the gunmen shot at attendees and took victims into a nearby forest. Although the exact number of abducted individuals remains unclear, the incident has instilled significant fear within the community.

A senior government official from the state's security committee confirmed the attack and indicated that security operations have been deployed to the area to track the assailants. Efforts to reach the police for comments were unsuccessful at the time of the report.
