Nigeria Sports Commission Praised for Training Camp

Favour Ashe, a sprinter, commended the Nigeria Sports Commission (NSC) for establishing a world-class training camp for Team Nigeria in preparation for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. Ashe noted that the camp allows athletes to concentrate solely on their training without distractions from unresolved welfare issues.

He praised the quality of facilities, accommodation, and nutrition provided, stating that the NSC has done a fantastic job ensuring everything necessary for athletes' preparation is in place. This sentiment was echoed by Daniel Igali, a former world and Olympic wrestling champion, who also commended the leadership of the NSC.

The NSC's chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, and the director general, Bukola Olopade, have prioritized athlete welfare. The Nigerian athletes, including those in athletics, weightlifting, boxing, and para-sports, are expected to face challenges in their quest for medals at the Commonwealth Games.
