ASHRAE Nigeria Chapter to Host Annual Distinguished Lecture

The ASHRAE Nigeria Chapter, part of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, will hold its annual distinguished lecture tomorrow in Lagos. Franklin Olatunji, the president of the ASHRAE Nigeria Chapter, will lead the lecture, which will focus on the theme "The Role of National Codes and Standards in the Profession's Responsibility for Sustainable Building Design." Engr Abayomi Akindel, chairman of the planning committee, revealed that ASHRAE has 50,000 members across 130 countries, with the Nigerian chapter dedicated to promoting energy-efficient building systems and indoor air quality within the engineering industry.

ASHRAE, founded in 1894, aims to advance human well-being through sustainable technology in the built environment, including research, standards, and continuing education. The distinguished lecture in 2026 will also address the importance of codes and standards in guaranteeing energy efficiency and indoor air quality in sustainable building practices.
