Security Forces Repel Armed Attack on NIPSS in Kuru

On July 1, 2026, security operatives engaged in a fierce gun duel with unidentified armed assailants attempting to breach the security perimeter of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru. The attack resulted in the death of one assailant, while others escaped with varying degrees of injury.

Barrister Nima Salman Mann, the acting Director of Studies, and Professor Haruna Dabin confirmed the incident. Dr.

Osim Samuel, head of public affairs at NIPSS, explained that the swift and coordinated response from security forces forced the attackers to retreat. The institute reassured its staff and residents that there was no breach of security and emphasized the safety of personnel and property as a top priority.

Security agencies are intensifying efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects and are implementing proactive measures to strengthen security around the institute.
