Assailants Kill Point of Sale Operator in Niger State

On March 9, 2026, at approximately 3 AM, a 30-year-old Point of Sale operator named Aliyu Vatsa was attacked and killed in the Mama area of Minna, Niger State. Sources indicate that the assailants rejected a plea for money made by Vatsa before fatally stabbing him in the stomach with a machete multiple times.

Despite Vatsa's cries for help attracting neighbors, they were unable to rescue him in time. Neighbors rushed to the Tudun Wada police station to report the incident.

Vatsa was subsequently taken to a general hospital in Minna, where he was confirmed dead. His elder brother, Ibrahim Kolo, expressed his belief that the killers would be apprehended and brought to justice.

The spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident and noted that the assailants fled before police arrived. Investigations are ongoing to arrest the suspects involved in this culpable homicide.
