Miners Allegedly Kill Police Officer and Burn NSCDC Van in Niger State Attack

Miners reportedly attacked a joint security operation comprising personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) during a routine patrol at a mine site in Niger State. The miners, armed with dangerous weapons, set ablaze a Hilux patrol van belonging to the NSCDC.

Suberu Siyaka Aniviy, a representative of the NSCDC, condemned the attack and announced a manhunt to apprehend the perpetrators. The security team was on a mission to curb illegal mining activities and prevent the unlawful smuggling of minerals when they were ambushed.

The incident resulted in the death of a police officer and the destruction of the patrol vehicle. The NSCDC vowed to intensify security operations and prosecute those involved in the violent attack.
