ASUU Chair Praises Governor Kefas for 100% Salary Payment

Dr. Joshua Garba Mbave, the chairman of the Taraba State chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), commended Governor Agbu Kefas for paying 100% of workers' salaries at the Taraba State University.

Speaking to journalists in Jalingo, Mbave emphasized that Kefas demonstrated a strong commitment to the welfare of both academic and non-academic staff since assuming office. He acknowledged that the governor prioritized education, which is crucial during a time when public universities across Nigeria face issues with irregular salary payments.

When Governor Kefas took office, he inherited a salary bill of nearly N1.8 billion, of which over N1 billion was cleared immediately. This action reflects his disciplined leadership and dedication to addressing the financial challenges faced by the university, ensuring that salaries remain consistent and timely.
