ASUU Nasarawa State University Threatens Action Over Demands

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Nasarawa State University, Keffi branch, led by Chairperson Abdulmumini Loko, has issued a strong warning to the Nasarawa State government regarding ongoing neglect of critical issues affecting its members. During a press conference on Thursday, Loko emphasized that unless immediate steps are taken to address the union's demands, industrial harmony cannot be guaranteed.

The union outlined several demands, including the immediate implementation of a 40% salary increment as per a recent agreement with the federal government, payment of outstanding salary arrears, and the establishment of a contributory pension scheme. Loko cautioned that failure to meet these demands could lead to a decline in educational quality and increased brain drain among academic staff.

The union remains committed to dialogue but warns that patience is not infinite. If the situation persists, ASUU may be compelled to take legal steps to protect its members' interests and preserve the integrity of the university system.
