ASUU Threatens Strike Over Unpaid Salaries and Issues

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has issued a warning of potential industrial action over unpaid salaries and the incomplete implementation of agreements with the Federal Government. During a meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) held at Modibbo Adama University in Yola, ASUU President, Professor, outlined unresolved issues, including the withholding of three and a half months' salaries, promotion arrears, and discrepancies in the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System.

The union criticized the government's continued withholding of salaries owed to its members and expressed frustration over the situation. ASUU has called on both federal and state governments to fully implement the agreements reached with the union.

The union remains open to dialogue with the government but has warned that the NEC will reconvene soon to review developments and decide on the next course of action.
