ASUU Issues Ultimatum Over Lecturers' Salary Structure

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has threatened to initiate a nationwide strike if the Nigerian federal government does not commence payment of a newly approved salary structure for university lecturers within four days. ASUU President Christoph Piwuna delivered this warning on Thursday at the Adu Zungur University in Bauchi State.

He emphasized that the government must begin immediate payment in accordance with the January agreement reached with ASUU to resolve long-standing disputes. Piwuna indicated that failure to comply with this ultimatum would provoke a strong response from the union, signaling rising tensions among lecturers who are pushing for swift action on the promised salary reforms.
