PDP Board Led by Turaki Takes Charge After Court Ruling

During the 84th Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) board, chaired by Kabiru Turaki, officially assumed leadership after a Supreme Court ruling on April 30, 2026, which upheld the suspension of Senator Samuel Anyanwu. The ruling declared that the suspension period would cease on November 3, 2025, and that Anyanwu could no longer carry out official duties for the party.

In response to the judgment, the PDP board, under the leadership of Turaki, is taking immediate steps to avert a leadership vacuum and ensure the party's administrative functions continue smoothly. The board received messages of solidarity from various stakeholders, reinforcing confidence in the PDP's ability to overcome challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting also addressed previous events within the party, including the invalidation of the outcomes from the November 2025 convention in Ibadan, which were deemed null and void.
