Sanwo-Olu Identifies Causes of Lagos Flooding Issues

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu revealed that the primary causes of flooding in Lagos are natural occurrences linked to the state's coastal terrain and poor social media narratives that exaggerate the problem. During an event on Monday, Sanwo-Olu received Federal Minister of Works David Umahi, who is a member of the National Assembly Committee on Works, to inspect the coastal highway and assess reports regarding road construction and flooding.

Sanwo-Olu stated that Lagos occupies less than 0.26 percent of Nigeria's total landmass, yet faces significant pressure from flooding, especially during the rainy season. He noted that while people often claim flooding will recur, it is essential to address the issues realistically.

Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the coastal highway project, which he claimed has been beneficial to Lagos over the past two years.
