Industry Leaders Discuss Player Protection in Lagos

The second annual Responsible Gaming Symposium, organized by Gambling Alert, took place in Ikeja, Lagos, focusing on player protection and responsible gaming frameworks. Fisayo Ok, CEO of Gambling Alert, emphasized the need for structured systems to enhance player protection.

Olabimp Akingba, Group Head of Responsible Gaming at Pawatech, highlighted the importance of adapting global best practices to the African context, noting that player education is crucial for effective implementation. Peter Emolemo from the African iGaming Alliance raised concerns about the regulatory framework's gaps in addressing problem gambling.

Bashir Donbin, Deputy Commissioner of the Ghana Game Commission, and Olajid Boladuro from the Oyo State Game Lottery Board discussed the necessity of aligning local realities with global standards. They identified Know Your Customer (KYC) as a significant gap in regulatory compliance and stressed the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to ensure responsible gaming practices across Africa.
