Atiku Abubakar's Third Term Disagreement with Obasanjo

Kenneth Okonkwo, a campaign spokesman for the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, disclosed the reason behind the disagreement between Atiku and former President Olusegun Obasanjo. In an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Okonkwo stated that Atiku informed him of Obasanjo's ambition for a third term in 2007.

Atiku's refusal to support this agenda resulted in significant differences between them. Okonkwo recounted that Obasanjo had sent intermediaries to Atiku to solicit his support for the third term, to which Atiku responded firmly that he would not only refuse but would actively oppose it.

Following this, Obasanjo allegedly vowed that he would not hand over power to Atiku. Okonkwo also mentioned that some Nigerians oppose Atiku's presidential aspirations because he aims to improve the lives of citizens, referencing Atiku's previous tenure as Vice President from 1999 to 2007, which he described as the best administration for economic growth in Nigeria.
