Atiku's Aide Calls for Probe into Igboho's Claims

Paul I.B., the media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has urged the Department of State Services to investigate claims made by Sunday Igboho, a prominent Yoruba nation campaigner, regarding politicians allegedly sponsoring kidnappers in Oyo State. Igboho disclosed during a meeting with members of the National Association of Nigerian Students that he knows the identities of these politicians.

He emphasized that kidnappers are not invincible and that decisive actions must be taken against them. I.B. made this call on Thursday, arguing that the security agencies should leverage credible information to aid in rescuing victims and dismantling the criminal networks behind these attacks.

His remarks were made against the backdrop of rising concerns over the abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State, which has renewed fears of insecurity in the region. I.B. criticized the federal government's muted response to recent kidnappings, including the abduction of 50 schoolchildren in Borno State on May 15, 2026, questioning the government's inaction in addressing these security challenges.
