Tristan Xerri Banned for Wiping Blood on Opponent's Face

Tristan Xerri, a player for North Melbourne, has been handed a three-match ban for serious misconduct after an incident during a match against Essendon. The incident occurred when Xerri, who had a bloody nose after a clash with Essendon captain Andy McGrath, wiped the blood onto McGrath's face.

This act narrowly missed McGrath's mouth and was described as disgraceful behavior. During the tribunal hearing, Xerri admitted to losing his cool and expressed sincere apologies, acknowledging it was a lapse in judgment with no excuse for his actions.

AFL Chief Executive Andrew Dillon condemned the behavior, stating it is not something the league wants to see. The tribunal considered two similar cases from 2002 and 2012, which involved wiping blood on shirts, and ultimately decided on a three-match ban for Xerri, emphasizing the intentional nature of the act.
