Keyamo Demands Apology and Fine from Peter Obi Over Airport Incident

Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo has demanded a public apology and a fine of ₦25,000 from former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi following an incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on July 4, 2026. Keyamo alleges that Obi's vehicle was parked in a restricted drop-off zone and left unattended for approximately 30 minutes, which he claims poses a significant security concern.

The incident was captured on CCTV, showing Obi arriving at 8:28 PM and exiting the vehicle, while the police driver remained inside. Keyamo stated that airport regulations permit brief stops in designated areas but not unattended vehicles.

After the vehicle was clamped, Keyamo claims Obi requested its release without paying the fine. In response to Obi's suggestion that the incident was politically motivated, Keyamo dismissed the claim and accused Obi of attempting to misrepresent the situation.

Keyamo warned that failure to comply with the demands within one week would result in legal action by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.
