APM Demands Transparency on Fuel Subsidy Removal Funds

The All Peoples Movement (APM) has challenged the Federal Government, led by the All Progressives Congress (APC), to provide a detailed account of how the proceeds from the removal of fuel subsidies are being utilized. Following President Bola Tinubu's announcement in May 2023 to remove petrol subsidies, which was intended to generate N20 trillion for social welfare and infrastructure, the APM claims that Nigerians are not experiencing any improvement in their living conditions.

They argue that economic hardship has worsened, with rising poverty rates, high living costs, and a significant infrastructure deficit. The APM's National Public Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, emphasized the lack of transparency regarding the funds generated from the subsidy removal and called for an independent verification of the impact of the policy.

The party insists that the government must provide a comprehensive public report detailing the total savings from the subsidy removal and how these funds have been allocated to benefit the citizens.
