Army Warns Maiduguri Residents of Potential Bomb Attacks

The Nigerian Army has cautioned residents of Maiduguri, Borno State, to remain vigilant and avoid crowded areas following intelligence reports suggesting the possible presence of additional suicide bombers in the city. This warning comes after a coordinated suicide bombing on Monday, which occurred around 7:05 PM during the Muslim observance of iftar, resulting in 23 fatalities and 108 injuries.

Sanni Uba, a spokesperson for the North East Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, described the attack as cowardly and noted that preliminary intelligence indicates that the perpetrators are believed to be members of Boko Haram. The security forces are intensifying surveillance and patrols to counter improvised explosive devices and track down remaining suspects to prevent further attacks.

Emergency response teams, including officials from the National Emergency Management Agency and medical personnel, have been deployed to evacuate victims to hospitals for treatment.
