AWC Commends Tinubu for Women Development Appointments

The Africa Women Conference (AWC) praised President Bola Tinubu for his recent appointments at the National Centre for Women Development. Ms.

Adedayo Benjamin Laniyi was appointed as the Director General and Chief Executive Officer, while Princess Joan Jummai Idonij was named the Chairman of the Governing Council. The AWC, through a statement by Dr.

Jumai Ahmadu, expressed that these appointments reflect a commitment to women's empowerment and inclusivity in governance. The organization highlighted the significance of these roles, noting that both appointees have demonstrated capacity in leadership and advocacy for women's advancement.

The AWC also acknowledged the long-standing support for women’s participation in governance and entrepreneurship across Africa. Furthermore, the group expressed confidence that the new leadership would bring fresh ideas and strengthen institutional capacity to improve welfare for women, children, and vulnerable groups nationwide.
