AWLA Advocates for Women's Empowerment at Annual Parley

The African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA), Nigeria Chapter, convened its 10th Annual Parley and General Meeting in Port Harcourt, focusing on the theme “Read Women Beyond Limitations.” Chairperson of the Parley Planning Committee, Ngozi Enyosiobi-Abafor, urged women to reject societal expectations that limit their potential. She stressed that gender should not define an individual's worth or rights and highlighted the importance of confronting challenges to contribute to society.

Keynote speakers Ginika Tor and Hon. Justice S.T. Bello echoed the call for self-determination, encouraging women to take initiative in their careers.

They condemned the antagonism among women in professional settings and advocated for mentorship, support, and equal opportunities for the girl-child. The conference concluded with a mandate for women to build confidence, dismantle barriers, and recognize their strength to lead across various sectors.
