NAWOJ Launches Women in Security Summit 2026 in Abuja

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) unveiled the inaugural Women in Security Summit and Awards (WINSEC) 2026 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja. The event aimed to celebrate women's contributions to peace, security, and national development, drawing dignitaries from various sectors.

NAWOJ National Chairperson Hajia Aishatu Ibrahim emphasized that sustainable peace can only be achieved by empowering women and including them in decision-making. The summit addresses the underutilization of women's perspectives in Nigeria's security challenges.

Hajia Ibrahim also announced that NAWOJ has secured a permanent national secretariat after nearly four decades, obtaining land and a Certificate of Occupancy, symbolizing institutional stability. The association plans to construct a national secretariat to serve as a center for journalism excellence and leadership development.

WINSEC aims to foster dialogue among policymakers, security institutions, and civil society while recognizing outstanding individuals in the field.
