Babachir Lawal angry Tinubu didn’t choose him as VP – Wike

Former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, revealed in an interview with Channels Television that former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, was reportedly upset that President Bola Tinubu did not select him as his vice president. Wike claimed that Lawal visited him in Port Harcourt to express his displeasure over not being chosen as Tinubu's running mate.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had stated that Lawal wanted to be Tinubu's vice president, but the party believed there were better qualified candidates. Lawal, who is now a presidential candidate for the Labour Party in 2023, argued that based on the available facts, Tinubu should have chosen him.

In response, the APC dismissed Lawal's claims as the rantings of a political opportunist. Wike also mentioned that Tinubu had actually chosen Shettima as his vice president, not Lawal.
