Oyo APC Denies Impeachment Plot Against Governor Makinde

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to allegations of an impeachment plot against Governor Seyi Makinde, characterizing the claims as a "badly written script" intended to mislead the public. In a statement released on Tuesday, spokesperson Olawal Sadar rejected reports linking prominent figures, including President Bola Tinubu, to the alleged impeachment plan, asserting that the claims lack credible evidence.

Sadar noted that Makinde should have been impeached long ago due to various allegations of abuse of office since May 2019. He argued that the governor's leadership style has weakened his political standing ahead of future elections.

The APC further claimed that the impeachment narrative is a strategic move by loyalists of Makinde to control public perception and prepare for political survival amid growing uncertainties regarding his influence before the 2027 elections. Sadar also mentioned serious allegations against the governor, including financial mismanagement and inflated contract costs related to local government councils.
