FTAN's Badaki Addresses Nigeria's Tourism Challenges

Dr. Aliyu Badaki, the President of the Federal Tourism Association of Nigeria (FTAN), disclosed during a press conference in Lagos that the association is actively addressing structural challenges in Nigeria's tourism industry through the Tourism Transformation Mandate (TTM).

This initiative aims to reposition tourism as a strategic driver of national economic growth and job creation. Badaki emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach to tackle long-standing issues that have hindered the sector's growth.

He noted that the past year has been dedicated to laying a foundation for future advancements, including mobilizing stakeholders to share priorities and take deliberate actions. Badaki highlighted the importance of strengthening public-private dialogue and harmonizing policies to encourage meaningful contributions from industry practitioners.

He also called for the federal government to expedite the process of addressing legislative issues affecting the tourism sector, particularly concerning the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) and the National Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) Act.
