Niger State Begins Construction of NYSC Permanent Camp

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a permanent orientation camp for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), emphasizing his administration's commitment to youth development. The project will occupy 28 hectares, with the first phase covering eight hectares and an additional 20 hectares designated for agricultural activities.

Governor Bago assured stakeholders of adequate funding and expressed confidence that the facility would become Nigeria's premier NYSC camp. Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, the NYSC Director-General, praised the initiative as a demonstration of collaboration between the Niger State Government and NYSC for youth empowerment and sustainable development.

The camp is designed to accommodate approximately 5,000 corps members and will include 41 hostel blocks, a multi-purpose hall, administrative offices, and recreational facilities. The contractor, Stephen Adigun, committed to delivering the project on time and to high standards.

The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji, also expressed support for the initiative.
