Bala Mohammed's Defection Plans Stall Amid Political Pressure

Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi State, is currently experiencing a stall in his planned defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) amid overtures from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC). As he approaches the end of his second term in office next year, there is growing speculation about his political future.

Sources indicate that Mohammed has recently engaged in discussions with APC national chairman Prof. Nentaw Yilwatda and ADC chieftain Babachir Lawal.

However, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Wednesday that it would withdraw recognition of the ADC's national working committee, led by David Mark, due to compliance issues with a court ruling. It remains unclear whether this decision will influence Mohammed's plans to suspend his move to the ADC or consider joining the APC.
