Sokoto Governor Aliyu Supports Police in Banditry Fight

On Wednesday evening, Governor Ahmadu Aliyu of Sokoto State visited the newly appointed Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, in Abuja. During the visit, Governor Aliyu assured that his administration would continue to support security agencies in their fight against banditry, a significant issue affecting the state.

He disclosed that since taking office, his administration has purchased and distributed 200 patrol vehicles to enhance the capacity of security agencies in curbing banditry, particularly in areas severely impacted by insecurity. Governor Aliyu emphasized the importance of protecting lives and property, stating that this responsibility should not rest solely on the federal government.

He also noted the significant progress made by security agencies in tackling the menace of banditry and called for sustained momentum. The governor advocated for stronger synergy among various security agencies operating in the state to achieve greater success in the fight against banditry.

He commended former Commissioner of Police Ahm Musa for his contributions and urged the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Hayatu Hassan, to emulate his predecessor.
