Sokoto Governor Aliyu Enhances Security Collaboration

On Wednesday, Sokoto Governor Aliyu met with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Abuja to discuss strategies for intensifying operations against banditry and violent crime in Sokoto State. The meeting, as stated by the governor's media aide, reaffirmed the administration's commitment to strengthening collaboration with security agencies.

Governor Aliyu highlighted the need to safeguard lives and property, noting that security remains central to his administration's nine-point SMART agenda for sustainable development. He disclosed the procurement and distribution of 200 patrol vehicles to security agencies to improve rapid response operations.

Aliyu acknowledged the ongoing challenge posed by banditry but urged the security forces to sustain their recent progress. He emphasized the importance of intelligence gathering and stronger inter-agency cooperation to tackle insecurity effectively.

The governor also called for deeper synergy among security agencies, warning that disjointed efforts could weaken the fight against organized crime. He commended the former Sokoto State Commissioner of Police for his contributions to the state's security framework and urged the newly deployed Commissioner of Police to build on this legacy.
