Gunmen Abduct 13 Residents in Kebbi State Attack

On Sunday, at approximately 1:00 AM, gunmen abducted thirteen residents from Tangaram Village in the Wasagu District of the Danko Wasagu Local Government Area, Kebbi State. The Kebbi State Police Command, represented by spokesperson Bashir Usman, confirmed the abduction and stated that rescue operations are ongoing.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims are adult males, countering earlier reports of mixed genders among the abducted. The attackers reportedly used motorcycles and fired sporadically, causing panic among the villagers.

Eyewitness accounts described the attack as terrifying, with residents fleeing in various directions. The area has suffered repeated attacks due to its proximity to forest corridors linking Kebbi and Zamfara states.

Recent incidents in the Danko Wasagu region have led to mass abductions, with ransom payments allegedly reaching millions of naira. This latest attack has heightened concerns regarding the worsening insecurity faced by border communities in Kebbi State.
