Bandits Abduct Pregnant Women and Others in Sokoto

On Saturday at approximately 5 PM, heavily armed bandits infiltrated a village in Sokoto, resulting in the abduction of two pregnant women and three other individuals. The victims were identified as Sadiya Umar, Firdausi Umar, Maryam Musa, Ubaida Musa, and Harira Nura.

During the attack, the bandits, who arrived on seven motorcycles, shot into the air, causing panic among the villagers. Residents attempted to flee, and local police officers abandoned their posts upon seeing two bandits pursuing a motorcycle.

Following the attack, the bandits also rustled 12 cows. Sadiya Umar and Ubaida Musa were noted to be heavily pregnant and due to deliver soon.

After the incident, some residents fled to neighboring Niger Republic but returned on Sunday morning. Efforts to contact the Sokoto State police spokesperson, DSP Ahmad Rufai, for comments were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls or text messages at the time of the report.
