Bandits Abduct Nine and Rustle Livestock in Sokoto

On Saturday night, bandits invaded a community in Sokoto around 8:30 pm, leading to the abduction of nine people and the rustling of over 200 livestock. A resident, Saminu Arzika, noticed the bandits while outside and was shot while attempting to alert others.

The attackers continued their operation until approximately 11 pm, going from house to house. Among those abducted were five males and four females, including Maryam Yusuf, Rukayya Abdu, and a widow named Maryam Abdullahi.

The remaining victims were children aged between 10 and 15 years, whose names were not disclosed. One resident is currently in captivity after his family paid a ransom of N1 million, with the abductors now demanding a Bajaj motorcycle for his release.

The Sokoto State Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Ahmad Rufai, was contacted for comments but had not responded at the time of reporting. Kagara Ward in Goronyo Local Government Area has been facing ongoing security challenges, with previous attacks reported in the area.
