Bandits Attack Kwara Community, Burn Emir's Palace

On the night of the attack, between 12:00 AM and 2:00 AM, heavily armed assailants stormed Yashikira in Baruten Local Government Area, Kwara State, setting the Emir's palace on fire and abducting several members of the royal household, including wives and children of the traditional ruler, Alhaji Umar Seriki. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers arrived on motorcycles, firing sporadically as they advanced toward the palace.

Local security forces were overwhelmed, leading to panic among residents. Some individuals sustained injuries while fleeing the chaos.

The gunmen specifically targeted the palace, breaking into the inner quarters to abduct victims and setting vehicles ablaze before escaping the area. The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the coordinated attack, which also involved the burning of the police station.

A full-scale joint security operation has been ordered to rescue the victims and track down the attackers, with assurances to the community regarding intensified security measures.
