Bandits Abduct Mother and Children in Kwara Community

On Wednesday night, bandits invaded Ahun Village in Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, abducting a mother and her two children. The incident occurred around 9 PM as residents were preparing for sleep.

Eyewitness accounts revealed that the assailants arrived, shooting sporadically for about 40 minutes, which caused panic among the villagers. The traditional ruler of Oro Ago, referred to as Baba Segun, commended the local vigilante group for their bravery during the encounter.

The Evangel Church West African (ECWA) Church expressed deep concern regarding the increasing insecurity in the Kwara South Senatorial District, highlighting the impact on community safety and livelihoods. The church called for urgent action from federal and state governments to address the security challenges.

This incident is part of a troubling trend of kidnappings in the area, particularly during the cashew harvest season, which has left farmers unable to access their farms due to fear of attacks.
